About the Event
Participate in a Zoom workshop number 1 of 3, with Dr. Martinez focused on Executive Functioning Skills for parents. Discover what parents can offer by understanding the thinking process, including working memory, planning, prioritizing tasks, organization, time management, and how to effectively follow through with tasks.
Dr. Katherine Martinez (she/her/hers) is a registered psychologist (#02036) in British Columbia with over 25 years of experience in clinical work, research, and training. Dr. Martinez was previously a staff member at the Vancouver Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Centre from 2012-2018, and a partner at The San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy from 2004-2009. Prior to these positions she worked at Children’s Hospital Oakland, California, and various clinics in New Jersey. Katherine specializes in cognitive-behavioural assessment and treatment of anxiety, OCD, mood, and childhood disorders in youth, provides parenting training and support to families, conducts workshops, supervises graduate students in psychology, and mentors bodies of culture interested in healthcare. She has a long history of working with neuro-diverse clients and is passionate about equity and neuro-affirming care. Finally, she has co-authored the books, Your anxious mind: A teen’s guide to anxiety and panic (Magination Press, 2009) and Getting Comfortable with Uncertainty for Teens (New Harbinger 2022). In addition to her professional work, Katherine is a wife, mother, and pet-mama who is passionate about social justice and anti-oppression work, travel, reading, and the outdoors.
