ADMISSIONS

At Madrona, we know each student's gifts are different and unique. While students may be advanced in some areas, they may need support in others. We believe in educating the whole child and preparing them for the future world we share.

Our admissions process is designed to help families learn about our school, understand our approach, and determine whether Madrona is the right fit for their child. From tours and conversations with our team, to Experience Days where your child can spend time in the classroom, each step is an opportunity to explore our learning community.

Why Madrona School?

Madrona’s strengths lie in our low student-to-educator ratios and our intentional focus on project-based and independent learning. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to support the asynchronous development of bright, gifted, and twice-exceptional students, allowing each learner to progress in ways that align with their unique strengths and needs.

While we specialize in supporting bright and high-potential learners, a formal gifted designation is not required for admission. Many of our students are also neurodiverse, meaning they may process information, experience emotions, or engage with learning in ways that differ from traditional classroom models. Some students join Madrona as siblings of our gifted or neurodiverse learners, and their families find that our supportive, flexible approach is the right fit for the whole family.

Through a non-traditional and responsive approach to education, we nurture curiosity, confidence, and resilience. Our purpose is to prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally and equip them with the skills and self-awareness they need to thrive in their future.

"

After leaving Madrona in 2019, I attended the University Transition Program at UBC, graduated from high school in 2020, and began pursuing my university education. I’ve just completed my second year of a combined Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Computer Science, and Masters of Management degree, both of which I will graduate with in 2024. I’m now working full time as a software engineer intern at Dialogue Health Technologies, where I’m able to combine my passion for coding with my interest in helping people and making the world a better place through technology.
