Assessment

Assessments are varied, targeted, and appropriate to the kids in our care.

  • We use two different types of report cards. One focuses on anecdotal and observation-based reporting. The other uses a marking system supplemented by comments.
  • Parents can choose which type of reporting they think will work best for their child. Generally, anecdotal reports suffice for younger students while older students may require letter or number grades, especially for application to secondary school.
  • In either case, we will assess students frequently in a variety of ways, and tailor subsequent teaching to assessment findings.
  • Communication with parents is a crucial part of our assessment process. Report cards and interviews provide a formal summary, but emails, phone calls, and “pick-up time” chats keep parents in touch with ongoing student progress.
